ADSS optical cable has a wide range of uses. It is mainly used in communication lines of overhead high-voltage power transmission systems, and is also suitable for communication lines in special overhead environments such as areas with frequent lightning and large spans.

Introduction to ADSS optical cable:
ADSS optical cable, that is, all-dielectric self-supporting optical cable, is characterized by the use of all-dielectric materials and the ability of the optical cable's own reinforcement components to bear its own weight and external loads. "Self-supporting" indicates that the mechanical strength of the optical cable is crucial; the choice of all-dielectric materials is because the optical cable is in a high-voltage and strong-electric environment and must be able to withstand the influence of strong electricity; since the optical cable is used overhead on the power tower, it is necessary to equip the corresponding hanger to fix the optical cable on the tower. These three key technologies include: mechanical design of the optical cable, determination of the suspension point, and selection and installation of supporting hardware.

Outdoor installation of ADSS optical cables
The mechanical properties of ADSS optical cable are mainly reflected in its maximum allowable tension, annual average operating tension, and ultimate tensile strength.
According to Chinese national standards, optical cables used in different ways (such as overhead, pipeline, direct burial, etc.) should have specific mechanical strength. For ADSS optical cable, as a self-supporting aerial optical cable, it not only has to bear the long-term self-weight, but also needs to cope with the challenges of the natural environment.
Outdoor applications of ADSS optical cables
If the mechanical properties of ADSS optical cable are improperly designed or do not match the local climatic conditions, the optical cable will have safety hazards and its life may also be affected. Therefore, each ADSS optical cable project must be carefully designed according to the natural environment and span of the optical cable route. The installation span of ADSS optical cable can reach 1800 meters/block. It has high voltage resistance, excellent anti-electrolytic corrosion performance and lightning protection ability, and is suitable for transmission line towers with a voltage level of 500kV. In addition, it also has strong anti-bullet performance. Generally, bullets shot at a distance of 10 meters will not cause fault damage to the optical cable. ADSS optical cable also has excellent low temperature resistance and environmental adaptability. Since the optical cable is independently laid without relying on the transmission line, its construction and maintenance are relatively convenient, and no power outage is required.
